Christmas in July at Ormiston House
The sun and waters of Moreton Bay were sparkling on Sunday as the craft stalls displayed their wares on the sprawling, green front lawn of Ormiston House.
Tour guides passionately told the history and stories associated with the Hope and Macartney families who previously owned the House while the dedicated volunteers in the kitchen prepared a delicious high tea.
I again played my role and showed everyone to their seats and enjoyed listening to their exclamations of delight as they saw the beauty of this majestic heritage gem in the heart of Ormiston. Fortunately, the House is now owned by the Carmelite Nuns and is preserved and fiercely protected by the Friends of Ormiston House.
If you haven’t visited Ormiston House and wandered the heritage gardens, relaxed on the veranda having a cuppa and scone then give yourself a treat and come visit the most beautiful example of early Australian architecture while learning about our Redlands early farming heritage.
